Rip Rap stone refers to rock that has been initially crushed and then screened. This type of gravel is extremely rugged, and does not get washed away or immersed in the soil easily. As a result, it is often used in stabilization, construction or in commercial applications.
Smaller sized rip rap is ideal as a base for a driveway or gravel parking lot, while medium to large rip rap is used for preventing erosion along the shore lines of lakes, rivers and streams, used in drainage ditches, or to armour bridge abutments and piers against scour and water erosion.
